Kern 3500 Automatic Mail Inserting System
A true high performance inserting system, the Kern 3500 is designed to suite the needs of modern business communication. It is capable of filling up to 22,000 envelopes per hour with multi-page documents.
Document input
High-performance equipment is available for feeding documents printed on continuous stationary or single sheets. Key requirements are that the documents can be collated rapidly and in the correct order. But above all, collation must be reliable and secure. For this reason, the input modules can be equipped to read all of the commonly employed types of code (barcode, OCR, OMR, 2-D).
ADF ( Automatic Document Factory )
Various ADF software modules that make it possible to realise database-driven production are available to supplement the Kern 3500. These optional ADF software modules are used to monitor the production process. Even if a single job is executed on several inserting systems, the ADF software can provide a performance overview covering the whole job.
Enclosure input
Thanks to its modular design, the Kern 3500 can be delivered with as many as twelve enclosure feeding stations. With a capacity to hold a stack of enclosures up to 508 mm (20") high, each station can feed a large number of inserts before having to be reloaded.
Envelope input
What is most impressive about the envelope station is its capacity to hold 3000 envelopes. As a result, work is easier for the operating personnel. And readjustment to accommodate a different sized envelope takes just a few minutes.
Production
High transport speeds and the flow of paper in a straight line are among the features that enhance the system's productivity. Whether the address faces up or down is immaterial. Document turning units placed along the transport path rotate the passing groups of documents into the position required. It is quite easy to set up the Kern 3500. Only a few settings have to be changed to get it ready for a new job.
