BCR
Bar-code (1D)
Most of the codes are based on a binary principle with a number of narrow and wide bars / gaps. The sequence of these narrows and wide bars and gaps produces specific numeric or even alphanumeric statements.
The Barcode is read optically. The varying reflection of the black bars and the white gaps produces an impulse group corresponding to this sequence of bars and gaps. This impulse group is then interpreted by electronic analysis (decoding) as data. The code length is determined by the number of characters to be represented (numeric and alphanumeric). Most Barcode character sets can be read in two directions. This is made possible by the fact that a code begins with a start character and ends with a stop character.
Kern have integrated ‘off the shelf’ bar-code scanners from Sick, Data –Logic etc. (why re-invent the wheel!)
OMR + 1D + 2D + OCR

Some customers have ‘legacy’ OMR applications as well as Bar-code, Data-Matrix and OCR applications. Kern found that in some cases a camera based technology provided the most cost effective and flexible solution.
The range of reading devices available, combined with the flexibility of Kern’s software, enables almost all types of codes and reading logics to be read.
Within the Technical Support Team are specialists who have many years of experience and can quickly find solutions to customer’s reading requirements. On occasions, the team have been challenged to provide diverse reading solutions for example, codes printed with invisible ink or reading magnetic ink (MICR).
